Jim Thorpe Gets Its First Distillery

Nomad Distilling Co.

Nomad Distilling Co, based out of Williamsport PA (yes, home to the Little League World Series), has opened up a tasting room here in Jim Thorpe. Their new space is located at 67 Race Street in the former Serendipity shop. The space has gotten a delightful refresh from the building's new owners as well as the Nomad team. Now you'll walk into a custom bar with freshly painted walls and sanded floors.

Nomad gets its name from owners Frank & Sarah Kudlack who call themselves Nomads, "the only thing consistent about our lives is that we're Nomads", says Sarah. "We've lived all over the US and are enjoying putting down some roots in Pennsylvania!", she said. The couple has an eclectic background in the food & beverage industry as well as real estate and ended up purchasing the property in Williamsport at the beginning of 2018. When they first brought the property it was a winery as well as distillery, but the owners decided their heart just wasn't in the wine component of the business, so pivoted to distilled spirits only. "Pre-pandemic the plan was to expand with other tasting rooms throughout PA, but then we all know how that went", Sarah says. "2022 felt like a new chapter, one where we could continue pursuing the dream of expansion. We considered several different areas on the Eastern half of PA but Jim Thorpe stole our heart and we decided it just had to be where we put our first satellite location."

The tasting room has had several soft-opening weekends throughout June but now is ready to roll into full-time hours! This location offers tastings, a flight of 6 spirit samples for $5, bottle sales as well as a selection of great merchandise. Nomad focuses on great experiences for their customers; whether that's purchasing a bottle to take home or having some great conversation while you're tasting. At this time they are not offering bar service in the space, but "that's not outside the realm of possibility", Sarah says.

Nomad's products include — Noble Bourbon a four year blended bourbon, Tapped a maple whiskey made with PA pure maple syrup, 91 their clear corn whiskey, Blackberry Bramble a liquor made with wine, six shines — Apple Pie, Lemon, Blueberry, Sweet Tea, Peach & Root Beer, and their canned cocktail Litty Lemonade. "People have been very surprised by the quality of product, sometimes when people hear the term shine they think low quality, that's not us. We take pride in what we are making and look forward to the future of what's down the pipeline." Sarah said.

"We are excited to be a part of the Jim Thorpe community. It's a tight knit town that knows the meaning of supporting local and we're excited to get to know everyone and earn our place." concludes Sarah.
